About Me

I am a young and energetic teacher who is getting ready to teach my SIXTH year at Gorrie Elementary. I began teaching at Gorrie as an intern in fifth grade. I was then asked to take over in third grade and eventually made my way back up to the great fifth grade team I am on now!

I graduated from The University of Tampa with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2009 and I recently completed my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction this summer. Since then, I have been working at UT as a professor in the education department. I am constantly looking for ways to grow professionally and enjoy challenging myself to be a better teacher for my students.

I teach because I love that “eureka” moment students get when they discover some knowledge that I’ve helped lead them toward. The moment when they connect the dots in a complicated web of cause and effect. The moment when they realize they understand the material.

I grew up on Long Island, in the great state of New York and I moved down to Tampa for college. I am one of four boys and spend most of my vacation time during the year visiting family and friends since I love to travel! When I am not working on school things, I enjoy going to the beach, watching a movie and playing with our dog, Dex. He is an energetic,  Yorkie and he is a great dog. My goal with this blog is to establish open lines of communication between home and school. I am open to any and all feedback that may assist me in improving this blog. This is still  new to me, so bear with me as I learn how this whole thing works! Happy blogging!
